Aaaaaaaaaah! Here comes the appreciaaaaaaaaaation!

As busy as I can be, I have been asked a favor by headmaster of the nomination cult to actually complete one important award tag since she means it with all(?) of her heart.

This is the only one you actually have to do Shoka…please?

So here I am — back at it with my smartphone. I’ve recently relearned to browse my blog while requesting a desktop site on it, which makes everything a few additional steps to my learning curve. I think that I’ve said it somewhere but Android’s WordPress application is trashy at creating posts but in the far opposite side when it comes to reading and/or socializing with other bloggers.

I am the rules but so are these

(1)   Thank the blogger who nominated you, link back to their site.

So, after having responded to many award posts already, how do you think it would work this time around?

I say thank you, loud and louder every time; I scre–

Thank you, Rin-chaaaAAAN!
Would my appreciation be big enough?

(2)   Write a paragraph of something positive about yourself.
Okay.

While I may be a bit of a narcissist, if I find even a single plus point of something/somebody, I will not stop praising it to heaven.
I guess I can’t really come up with anything good about myself that’s worth a paragraph, after all. I know for sure that it is a lot easier to tell others about their nice parts—not that I’m expecting any—so I find it natural that others do the same to me. As much of a myth as it can be, people who tell you that they are ‘nice’ are usually the least deserving of that praise from you. So yeah, do tell me! 🙂

(3)   Nominate and notify as many bloggers as you wish.
My command.

(4)   Use the award image:

/cast Award Image
(It’s a World of Warcraft macro — I’m a seasoned player like that.)

Going the extra mile

I’m going to just couple it up with the award since everything I have to say are within the lines of my appreciation to other bloggers and of course, you readers; even more so for those who have done more than just reading my rambles.
You know who you are~

Let us begin with the most obvious:
When I think about blog success in general, nothing short of Irina would always appear in my train of thoughts. It was never about numeric stats or figures, but rather what she has been able to do—within a short amount of time—beyond my capabilities. I had to browse her world-wide blog in order to find a certain abstract which contained her appreciative sentiments for me.

Shoka is one of the first people to regularly interact with me and my blog and possibly THE person who made me feel the most welcomed when I first started out. His influence is in no small part what motivated me to put in the effort to reach out and be a more active part of the community. So Thank you very much Shoka for helping me grow as I’m sure you’ve helped countless others.

I’m not linking to that certain post so you can have fun searching for it like I did.

Now, let me ask you, especially bloggers who happen to read this:

Have you ever felt this way with Irina herself?

What do you think this looks like from afar?
Irina carried on doing what I have done before her time in this community?

Again, I could have been pulling the absolute smug face in any given time since they are her claims and therefore the credits have been handed to me by no other than Irina herself. I can’t however, take full credits from her claims and here is why:
This entire event reminds me of your typical anime story where a character becomes stronger with the help of their friends and/or those who care.
Or you know what, let me use a real life analogy.

Naturally, if I am to hold open the door for someone, I would expect them to come in/go out. The most important part has to be how they will pass through and frankly, this is where I think she deserves at least ninety percent of the credits. Here are some of the possibilities for encounters both you and I can run into shall we hold open a door for someone:

  • They quickly pass through, quietly.
  • They thank you before quickly passing through.
  • They quickly pass through and then thank you.
  • They quickly pass through while thanking you.
  • They slowly pass through, quietly.
  • They thank you before slowly passing through.
  • They slowly pass through and then thank you.
  • They slowly pass through while thanking you.
  • They pass through, thanking you and actually looks back to see (and maybe ask) how you are doing, hence the potential in newfound acquaintance.

This can happen in any kind of situation that involves meeting a stranger and I would be lying with my pants on fire if I am to tell you that Irina was not a stranger to me at some point. Sure, according to her I am probably that person who held the door open but you all have seen how she passed through.
Our lovely Irina will not leave you hanging. She will most likely not make your efforts for her go in vain. If anything—not that you should be expecting it—she will return the favor in folds. Her kind of people tend to end up as a mother figure so with a large number of followers guaranteed, there will come a time when she is at her limit for direct appreciations, something you can totally see in not just hers but everyone else’s earlier appreciation posts such as 50/100/200 followers celebration.

Positivity is usually not something people would force themselves to produce; it comes naturally. It is one of the attributes that make up a person’s personality and I think that she has too much of it — naturally she would be spreading it around the blogging community right about now.
This is what can happen when you welcome someone into the club. Most of the time you will not have any idea on the potential an individual can place into the community until they feel welcomed.

A smaller part of my reason has to do with how it did not have to be me who welcomed her first. There are plenty of heartwarming bloggers roaming out and about. Just think about it, given the state of this tiny community we have right now. I am sure you might have wondered a little as to where that certain someone was at the time, which brings me to talk about that guy, who obviously deserves my grand appreciation…

He is the greatfather of socialization in our tiny yet ever-growing blogging community. If you ever consider yourself a part of it at all then you can at the very least expect his presence on your blog, because he will make it clear as day.

An extraordinary blogger who covers wide angles of entertainment, hogs all of your comment sections as if they all belong to him. He has earned respect from many, including some of us who are keen enough to prove this with extra-mile efforts. Irina and Dave over at MoeGamer have been screwing around to make this philosophical piece which I can wholeheartedly agree on.

Seriously, just give the guy a nudge because really…

Michel would probably admit it himself since I’m calling him out right now; he was surely late in discovering me and my blog, haha!

I will share a little story as to how he ended up hogging my comment sections in the same way he did with everyone else:

Back a while ago when Irina’s blog started blooming and gone booming, I’d also began to check out every one of her posts after a few days (still do) to see how much they can attract this blogging community, comment wise. Michel was that one guy I’d seen on nearly everyone’s blog, and his comments almost always consist of his reaction to your post — fully described within, reactions to his reactions, either his second thoughts or those times he mean it — in brackets and run-on sentences between semicolons. Eventually I sneaked into one of Irina’s post which he’d commented on and started a very tiny conversation with him, right in her post. Naturally, after letting him get some serious impression that I’m that sociable, he’d later come to hog the comment section of my posts from that point on. Some of the earliest ones were my write-ups for Two Car, as much as I could remember.

Tied to his wild comments were always his full-on positive intentions of praising my efforts and probably before or now yours. Michel will always let you know that you have done a good job no matter how realistically shit your posts seem to you. It is this positivity from him which fuels courage for other bloggers around the sphere of this community. Like, even if the content of my post has absolutely nothing to do with him (most frequent instances being that he hasn’t watched said show I wrote about), he’d still comment about not having familarized with the wonders’ subject in my post and tell me what he liked about the post in general. Now because half of this post is about him, you are guaranteed to see a paragraph from yours truly in the comments section.

Thanks to the both of you for making blogging look like a truly attractive hobby. It goes without saying; this is in no way an end of my appreciation for either of them. There will always be more of it as long as we continue to do great things — not staying still like I am right now. I’m not talking about us three only. Like I’ve said, if wild Raistlin has appeared on your blog then there’s a good chance you’re already doing a great job, bravo!

I’ll leave the nominations for when I get back home to edit this post on my PC. Man, I’m getting really good on making posts with my phone~

Hopefully the next post from me will really be about anime. Until then, have a good one and thanks for reading!

  1. Awww man…….😭😭🙈🙈😊😊 This….this, this is just..Awww man….😭😭🙈🙈😊😊 Okay, let me collect my thoughts and emotions here for a second. Right, I’m good: now, you weren’t wrong: there is comment from your’s truly appearing here (if that would not have appeared I would either be A: Dead, B: Taken over by hostile Alien beings or C: Both.
But enough nonsense: let’s get serious:

” I guess I can’t really come up with anything good about myself that’s worth a paragraph, after all”. You are kidding here right? I’m sure Irina is going to be saying the same thing as I am after reading this (unless she is already typing a comment just as I am writing thing one) but you are seriously being way too modest here. I’m sure you are going to get a lecture from the headmaster of the cult anyway, but let me be kind here by saying this: A single paragraph alone would not be enough to describe your good qualities. But let me just make it short by just saying it in words where you will obviously already get the picture: Kind, Incredibly supportive, one of the true pillars of this community, funny (and I mean that in the most positive way I can think of), a very good friend, way too modest (and trust me that is a very good quality to have, but I am still naming it anyway), and just an allround decent and truly honest guy, who has the maddest and raddest smartphone skills that I can think of.

And then your words about me. I so had to laugh at the picture : You can’t go wrong with a Raistlin (and a TM at that lol 😂😂). But besides me laughing here, I am truly moved by your words. I can be funny at times, but this time I am being deadly serious. This post really moved me, and I just honestly for the life of me, can’t thank you enough for this. It has truly made me day, I am walking around with a big grin on my face here. And of course, I am blushing all over the place (but that seems to be a new trend for weekends, as everyone is lately getting on this new thing “Let’s make Raistling blush”. But honestly, I would not be here if it weren’t for people like you. That are supportive and kind and just always great to talk to. Even though we might never meet in real life (although everything can happen), I feel every day if I am a part of something huge and awesome. And you are a very big part of that, trust me on that.

As for Irina: she already has been elevated to Godhood…so I don’t really know if there is anything that comes after that. What is bigger than a Goddes?? Hmm..well if there is anything like that, she certainly is that. One of the best reasons for heading on WordPress every day, and not even kidding here, the best of all of us. But…I can’t put in too many words here, as she is probably going to deny this all anyway.

Seriously though: Thanks man..this post really has made my day, and I hope you will keep remembering how incredibly awesome you truly are. Now I am going to be getting a few icecubes in order to get my blushing under control again lol 😂😂 Have a great weekend my friend 😊

      1. Awww man….I’m sorry, this comment was probably way too long…but I meant every word of it 😊 And if I made a post from this one, I would be almost promoting myself. And I don’t want to that: this is a post about you, not me. In any way. That’s why I wrote this whole comment as you are being far too humble here. But don’t worry….I will think of something 🤔🤔🤔 Really though…sincerely: Thank you. This post meant the world to me 😊

    1. I will accept the compliments only if we can agree that there are a mirriad of just as good reasons to head to WordPress! As much of an egotist as I am – this is getting a little out of hand. Let’s go back to praising you guys instead…

  2. I really enjoyed reading this one especially the bit (more than a bit) about our dearest Raistlin. It was satisfying to see his paragraphs right before I commented just as you said 😆 I have thoroughly appreciated your appreciation of these amazing bloggers.

  3. If you find a wild Raistlin you better catch him because you gotta catch ‘em all.

Come on, say one tiny positive thing. Be it your beautiful yellow cat eyes, crooked tiny toes or blue hair… wait, you’re not an anime character?! Damn! No but seriously there must be some tiny teeny thing about you. I mean I know things but I refuse to say it because… it should be you. 😘

  4. This was a delight to read, as expected. Apart from where you got my name wrong. :3 Still, it’s not the first time someone has thought of my last name ahead of my first name and called me “Dave”, so I suppose I can forgive you… THIS TIME.

It’s true, though, You can’t go wrong with a Raistlin.

  5. Honestly whatever Rai-san said but not that well written would be my comment but since he came here first (damn it), I’ll just go with “That pic’s Awesome~”

That said, a lot of what you said about Rin-san does hold true to yourself as well you know?

    Congratulations again!

  6. Sometimes, when you hold the door all day and watch people go in and out in there various ways we forget that so few people hold the doors anymore. Instead they just wave at people or wait to be approached by the visitor as they sit in silence just inside the door. An open door can make a big difference!

I Definitely feel like Irina was that person for me, one of my first followers, nominated me for my first award, and I always love it when she comments back on comments. Since you held the door for her, thanks!

Did you make Raistlin’s TM? Or did you find it? I’m curious.

  7. Congrats. I’m happy there have been people willing to support you and to give you props. You’re certainly appreciated here.

In other news, I actually finished Sound! Euphonium (the 1st season though) earlier today. I would’ve never heard about that anime had it not have been your article not that long ago. Thank you so much.

    1. Thank you, you are welcome and wow!
Someone actually goes to watch the show for my write up! Good to know that I can actually convince someone for once xD
It’s truly among the tops from KyoAni plus the entire character that is Kumiko; she’s enough a reason for anyone to watch the show.

      1. No problem, Shokamoka!

It’s certainly a great feeling to have whenever someone does that. I felt the same way when someone watched Shinesman after reading my review of that obscure OVA.

Gotcha. Kumiko is certainly a relatable character. I can understand her feelings of wanting to improve in her craft since I’m a musician myself even though I’ve never played the euphonium in my life. This is going to be something I will review and I’ll check out the sequel whenever I can.

  8. Come to think of it, I remember holding open a particularly stubborn door, and I seem to recall the most common response is simply a “Thank you”, with an attempt at eye contact in most cases, as people pass through.

Anyways, Irina was already rooting for me before the Spellbook happened so…I’m not sure how the door analogy would work with that one.

…and before I forget, great post!

      1. I would’ve been one of those people who went through the door but came back later, went through the door the other way and then stayed on the side of the door I was originally in…or something like that, anyways.

  9. So it took me a couple of days to properly digest this one.
I thought we had agreed this post was going to be about YOU not me…. You realize that now I’m just going to have to write a Shoka appreciation post…geeze if you want something done right…
In all seriousness, this is not the first time I see you praise bloggers. It’s not even the first time you praise me. Despite what you seem to believe, I am neither particularly warm nor very nice. I have some great qualities but those aren’t among them. If I come off as enthusiastically supportive of this community it’s because I really see the potential and kindness of its members and I’m impressed. I don’t sit around trying to come up with compliments to make people feel better. I blurt out obvious facts cause I get overly excited when I see something I like. That’s all.
Yes, there are a lot of truly fantastic people here and a lot of them go out of their way to make newcomers feel welcome. Probably one of them would have done so for me if you didn’t. So what? The fact is YOU did. And you did so perfectly. Not a shallow half hearted gesture, you took the time to get to know a stranger and talk to them with respect for their opinions even if you had been around the community longer. You approached the situation with the mindset of being a friend. I probably won’t be able to properly explain what this means but it takes effort, and brains and a bit of courage to properly give people a chance. Just welcoming them is one thing, but making them feel welcomed is another. It takes a particular skill that not everyone has. One you should be proud of. As you should of your writing which I have always admired.

So Shoka, this post was beautiful and touching. I really appreciate it. I will go back to it a lot. I wish you had given yourself more props. I’m pretty smart you know, and if I say you’re awesome, I’m most likely right.

Great job on embarrassing Raistlin though, he also needs to learn to praise himself a bit. Next time you two should do this as a collab. Raistlin and Shoka get conceited!

I don’t know how to end this comment. Thank you Shoka! Maybe someone else would have held the door for me if you hadn’t but I’m very glad you did!
