Hello. Let’s be real.
An Anime You Wished Was Real
I have always been a sciencey person, having done Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry major and all (funny that my current job doesn’t make any use of my degree—let this be truth for the future, kids).
I love watching Sci-Fi shows because they tend to abstract some of the best aspects about the subject, being all technical and at least half of the time thorough with explanations.
This is what we call technobabble.
While technobabble more than often lowers the quality of anime shows, for me it can potentially increase my enjoyability when done right. And there is one anime which does a passable job of being a huge technobabble.
Oh, and I wished it was real, minus the babbles.

“Come at me, Panties-kun!”
In the dawn of the 21st century, magic, long thought to be folklore and fairy tales, has become a systematized technology and is taught as a technical skill. Hell yeah!
Note that I am not here to talk about how good this show is, but rather reasons as to why I want it to become real.
The premise and setting of this anime should definitely be among those guaranteeing the adrenaline. At least mine was rushing.
The idea behind magic casting is dope. None of the chuunibyou incantations (sorry Megumin!), just weave your hands and do the invisible bitchslap if you happen to own that class of magic.
Now now, don’t ever run from me, Panties-kun…

Better than normal magic, Mahouka does also introduce the widely believed and practiced ‘elements’. Now tell me why wouldn’t you find it useful to be have, say, fire abilities so you can save on the power bill?
Hell, own up the lightning attribute and you are good as gold in 21st century.
A world of power can only birth endless greed. Comes all odd individuals in search of true power for dominance. It’s already happening in real time so imagine if this anime is real?
Shit won’t go down pretty, I can guarantee that much.
Personally, I would love to have abilities that can save my own tripping ass once in every while.

At the same time I would also love to have abilities that can easily erase scums of the Earth. You know what I’m talking about…

Too bad none of this is real, because if it is then Panties-kun wouldn’t live to tell me that he hates Mahouka~
Let us end the challenge with tomorrow’s post. See you then!
I wish… Hmm. Something like Yatterman was real, you go superheroes and stuff going at it. At least the news would not be so depressing, it would be fun seeing supers going at it.

Why stop there? Just wear a cape, shave your head and be Saitama instead!

I had thought about that too until I left the job. 😂

I couldn’t get into this one. The first episode put me off in like 10 minutes
Maybe I’ll try again some day.

The show is an off putter. But maybe because I have made it through, I am able to at least appreciate little things it does well.

I’ve often wondered which element I’d like to go for if I had the opportunity to gain command of one. Fire would seem to be an obvious choice, but I feel the temptation to let rip on people who irritate me by immolating them might prove too much to resist one day.
I actually think if I had RPG-style magic in reality, I’d want to be a healer, which is usually associated with earth and wind elements. I feel like it would save a lot of time and inconvenience if you could just cast a spell or two any time you (or someone close to you) was feeling a bit peaky.
Plus, you know, if you go with the wind element, you could windburn annoying people, which is a constantly irritating amount of damage over time rather than an immediate burst of pain.
I may have given this rather too much consideration.

Make it easy, just be Tatsuya and everything would be fine.
… Now I see why people hate him; because he’s able to solve practically any humanoid issues which we cannot.
