Making light of a serious situation! Because for anyone who’d watched Shokugeki no Souma, they’d know that the feature image is from one of the most intense moments of the first season.
Yesterday I woke up super late. I didn’t feel like going outside for a take-away for that matter.
So, after having a good stare at my opened up fridge, I’ve decided to pull out some of the remaining ingredients to make probably the laziest dish that would give even Chinese take-aways a run for their money.
Mung Bean Sprouts Stir Fry
The Tools:
- A wok and something to stir fry with
- A chopping board
- A chopping knife
- A rice cooker or a pot
The Ingredients:
- Rice!
- Cooking oil – 2 + 2 tablespoons
- Mixed vegetables – easily found in supermarket! Look for the stir fry bag if there happens to be any.
- White soy sauce – anywhere from 3 tablespoons
- Oyster sauce – a cup
- 100-200 g meat of choice
- Onions
- Spring onion (optional)
- Mung bean sprouts
Finely chop the onions and spring onions shall you have the latter as well. Make sure you cook the rice before starting to cook this meal because it really only takes ten minutes.
Heat up the oil in a wok, throw the meat in and fry it. Make sure to rid of the sour juice that comes out of the cooked meat.
Clean the wok and pour another two tablespoons of cooking oil in there again. Cook the onion until it gets a little crispy. Throw the cooked meat back in there and stir around for a minute or two. Add the vegetables, mung bean sprouts and white soy sauce. Keep them stirred while letting the soy sauce seep into the meat and veges.
Lastly, pour down oyster sauce and throw in the chopped spring onions. Stir for a few more minutes and wala~
You’re finished!
Easy Meal!
This is actually one of those dishes that you may go full on creative. I kept mine simple by using only two sauces. I got the sweet taste from oyster sauce while I didn’t need any salt; I had plenty of that taste from the white soy sauce!
The only thing that mattered to me was that it tasted similar to how a Chinese take-away would. Oh and this recipe is for three servings.
Thank you Tadokoro Megumi! You have certainly saved Souma (and I) from having to cash in on the more expensive meal outside. 🙂
Looking tasty as always~

Is around 110 Peso cheap? Because that’s the normal cost for me here in New Zealand, at least $3…

that’s expensive. omg.
if 1 dollar is around 50 pesos here, then mung beans would be 30 pesos, so less than a dollar. why is it expensive there? must high quality. XD
i get mine local, so it’s cheap.

It’s importation cost haha!
But yeah. I treat mung bean sprouts like food from expensive restaurant. This is NZ we are talking about, third fattest country in the world right behind the U.S.
Wouldn’t take long for you to guess which kind of food is cheap here…

ah, well imported food are insanely expensive. seaweed here is over 2 dollars and walnuts go up to 5.
and i know little about NZ except some episodes of GoT is filmed there.
cheap food there? you mean fast food? XD

Actually fast food chains like McDonald’s are still relatively expensive. It is the takeaways that are so damn cheap and full of carbs!

takeaways. like from a restaurant? wow, that’s fancy. we don’t have that much resto here, or rather we can’t afford them. the best I can do is street food. XD
but carbs is the devil. haha.

Takeaways/takeouts are just street food shops with roofs lol
On that topic, I really want to get back to the street food life. I’m truly jealous of people in Asia…

As much as I can see Erina coming from a mile away, because you know… the manga…
I really do hope that Megumi doesn’t get brushed out after all of her developments! Too precious!
It was also in this scene where I fully felt for Megumi. 😦

I know, I know. The progress in the manga is making me so sad. If it’s not Megu, I hope the manga ends with Soma not being with anyone at all.
I know! With everything happening in the manga, she’s getting less exposures. 😦

Oh, I’m sorry about that! Though in our defense, we didn’t really give away anything specific, just our feelings toward the happenings. But yeah, I apologize. >_<

Haha, you don’t have to apologise to me, I wasn’t spoiled anyways. I was just trying to protect the innocence of other people :>
